Trek Overview
Pattale Trekking is a popular trekking destination in the Lower Everest region of Nepal, situated in the eastern part of Kathmandu. Located on the way to Everest Base Camp, this area is also widely known as part of the Lower Solukhumbu trekking region. Pattale lies on the border between Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga districts and is a stunning viewpoint for Mt. Everest and the entire Mahalangur mountain range.
During winter, the area gets covered in snow, offering truly breathtaking scenery. The government is currently building a view tower and a Lord Buddha statue at the viewpoint, which is adding to its growing popularity among visitors. The best part is that Pattale is directly accessible by a motorable road from Kathmandu, so getting there is quite convenient. When trekking to Pattale, it is highly recommended to combine the trip with Pikey Peak Trek. Pikey Peak is one of the highest hills in the Solu region, standing at 4,060 meters above sea level. The name of the peak comes from a Sherpa clan deity, and every July the local community holds colorful celebrations to worship their god. From this peak, trekkers are rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Gaurishankar, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Numbur and many more magnificent peaks. What makes it even more special is that from this single viewpoint, you can clearly observe Nepal’s three distinct geographical zones including the Himalayan region, Hilly region and Terai region all at once, which truly makes it feel like a paradise.
Pikey Peak Trekking offers magnificent mountain views, breathtaking natural scenery and a rich authentic Sherpa cultural experience. Trekkers can reach the area either by taking a flight to Phaplu or by jeep from Kathmandu. This trek is especially perfect for people who want to see Mt. Everest views from a lower altitude within a short time while also exploring the Sherpa culture and traditional Himalayan Buddhist heritage. Along the trail you will also come across Himalayan domestic animals like Yak, Nak and Dzo, which adds a very unique charm to the whole journey. The trek is flexible and can be completed in 5 days or extended based on your schedule. We highly recommend a 7-day itinerary for the most fulfilling and rewarding experience. Moreover, the Everest Base Camp Trek from Salleri can also begin from Pikey Peak, needing just three extra days, which makes it a wonderful extension for trekkers looking for a bigger adventure.
