Trek Overview
Lower Everest Trekking trail is a newly explored trekking route in Nepal. It was explored by the Dharma Peak Sherpa Community and the Trekking Agent Association Nepal (TAAN) in 2011. This is a new trekking route in the lower regions of Solukhumbu and Khotang districts.
On this trekking route, travelers can enjoy geographical diversity, cultural diversity, and ethnic diversity. The trail offers beautiful mountain views, rivers, forests, and traditional villages. Trekkers can also experience the lifestyle and culture of different ethnic groups such as Sherpa, Rai, Tamang, Chhetri, Newar, Sunuwar, and many other communities living in this region. Along the journey, visitors can explore historical monasteries, jungles, wildlife, domestic animals, and the famous Maratika cave.
This area is still a remote part of Nepal. Tourism in this region is slowly developing, and because this is a newly opened trekking trail, proper tea houses and hotels are not yet available in some areas. For this reason, this trek is mostly organized as a camping trek, allowing trekkers to explore the untouched natural beauty of the lower Everest region.
One of the main attractions of this trek is the Maratika cave. According to Buddhist belief, the second Lord Buddha, Guru Rinpoche, meditated here for three months and seven days. There are around five caves in this area, and all of them are considered very important and sacred. These caves make the place very impressive and fascinating for visitors.
When people visit this sacred site, the caves create a special spiritual feeling and leave a memorable experience. The natural beauty, peaceful environment, and cultural significance make this place truly wonderful for trekking and exploration.
