Trek Overview
Langtang Gosainkunda and Helambu Trek is a very interesting and scenic trek, journeying through traditional Tamang villages and settlements, lush rhododendron forests, and offering spectacular mountain views. This trail is perfect for adventurers who would like a unique experience to explore the traditional, untouched Tamang culture, customs, and lifestyle.
The Tamang people of the Langtang region are believed to be descendants from Tibet and are not highly exposed to tourism. Therefore, the culture here remains largely untouched and authentic. The region is rich in biodiversity, offering many different species of trees, birds, and butterflies, where you can also enjoy spectacular views of Langtang Lirung. You might even see wildlife such as bears, monkeys, leopards, red pandas, or musk deer during this trek.
It is a beautiful journey in Nepal through lush forests, charming villages, abundant wildlife, and stunning views of the majestic Himalayas. The 18-day trek begins from Syabrubesi, a Tamang village located on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River. We reach Kyanjin Gompa and then climb Kyanjin Ri the next day. From there, we get magnificent views of the Langtang Lirung (7,200m / 23,622 ft) range.
Next, we continue trekking through the beautiful Langtang Valley and reach Gosaikunda, which is a sacred pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. We pass by several alpine lakes and cross the Lauribina La Pass. Our trek in the Helambu Valley begins after crossing the pass. We continue trekking in the Helambu region for a few more days and end this remarkable Himalayan journey with a drive back to Kathmandu.
