Trek Overview
There are many different trekking options in the Annapurna region because the area is very large. Among them, the Annapurna Community Trek is one of the latest popular trekking routes. This route was promoted for tourism by Mr. Mahabir Pun, a local resident from Ramche village. He is a technology engineer who worked in America and started promoting this area for tourism in 2010 through social work and community development.
This is a community-based trekking route where the main benefits go directly to the local community. Most of the lodges along this route are run by local community people. This trekking area is still less crowded and remains one of the less busy trekking routes in the Annapurna region because many travelers still do not know much about it.
One of the major attractions of this trek is the beautiful panoramic view of many mountains, including peaks above 8000 meters such as Dhaulagiri (8167 m) and Annapurna I (8091 m). The trek also offers diverse landscapes, many kinds of flora and fauna, and the chance to see different species of birds and wild animals.
Another special part of this trek is the opportunity to experience the real local family atmosphere by sharing time with local people. Travelers can learn about the lifestyle, religion, and culture of the Gurung and Magar ethnic groups while enjoying local food and hospitality. This makes the Annapurna Community Trek a meaningful trekking experience in Nepal.
